Mom,
Instead of writing you an elaborate card or searching for another gift, I thought this would be much more fun and special. I've created a blog for us. We will be the only ones who can see it and will both be able to post whatever we want. I realize that even though I see and talk to you all the time, we don't have enough one on one time. I know there are forms of communication much simpler (emails, for instance), but this just seemed like a much more fun way to share stories with each other that we may never talk about in person. I want this to be a completely open way of communication, no limits, and most of all, no judgement...anything that comes to mind, whether it be one simple thought or an entire novel.
I just thought that this would be something really neat we could share together. I personally always seem to get things out better through writing anyways. It never hurts to work on my writing either!
I hope and think that you will really enjoy this. I know I will!

Good grief! This is the second time that I have written a long, long thing to you. But it has lost both long comments. There appears to be too much chaos here. The first and second effort are floating around somewhere in cyberspace. I love this idea! But I need to do it at night when there is less happening. The first time, Leslie called and conned me into sending her the first five chapters of the book. I minimizes these comments and then couldn't get them back again. I started over again with a totally different tone, the second one was about how much being your mom meant to me. I talked about going over to Fort Walton Beach and picking you up at the hospital. I will do this again tonight because after the second very long comment I said a word that made the entire thing disappear! Consequently, I'm going to do it tonight when things are quiet and peaceful. Being your mom is the most wonderful thing the most significant thing that has ever happened to me in my life! I can't even begin to explain to you how much I love you. But, this will give me a wonderful opportunity to try and to share secrets with you. You are absolutely right, we never have enough time for one-on-ones. This will give us a perfect opportunity. What an incredible birthday present! Thank you my sweet, Boogs!
